The cars rolled out of the truck behind the 8-ball this weekend which made Friday’s Practice sessions pretty busy.

Overnight, the crew did an awesome job improving both cars for qualifying this morning which saw Chaz secure a ticket to the Top 10 shootout whilst Ryan missed out by 0.15 seconds, starting P18.

The Mobil 1 Optus Racing No. 25 was hooked up during the shootout, leaving nothing on the table out there locking a front row start.

88 laps around the streets of Townsville were never going to be easy but today was a tough one!

It was another chaotic start with the Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing No. 2 getting caught in opening lap carnage sustaining damage to the rear. Ryan had to nurse the car for the remainder 87 laps as it threw the aero balance off creating a parachute effect.

On the other side of the garage it was all on, Chaz fiercely battling at the front alongside Cam with countless changes for the lead across the whole 88 laps.

At the end of every stint there was a battle for the lead, Chaz was stronger earlier in the stints compared to the Tickford cars who were strong later in the stint, so it was always going to be a battle towards the end of the race.

With 10 laps to go, a curveball was thrown when all of a sudden it started pouring with rain, all cars decided to stay out on their Soft tyres which was the right option as the rain settled five laps later.

Chaz was in the lead with a few laps to go, but with stronger race pace, Cam overtook him for the win, it was close but not close enough.

A strong improvement for the team across the weekend, we will put our heads together tonight to make sure we come out swinging to do it all again tomorrow.

It was awesome to battle it out there with Cam today, we just didn’t quite have the pace in the end to hold onto them, man 88 laps around here is tough at 32!

It’s great to reward the team with some silverware but we really want that top step so we will be putting our heads together to come out stronger tomorrow.

We didn’t roll out of the truck where we wanted to this weekend but the crew have done an awesome job turning these cars around.

Bit of a long afternoon unfortunately, we copped some damage on the rear bar in the lap 1 mess and that made life a little more difficult for the next 87 laps.

I think we’ve got a lot more to show tomorrow which is good. It starts with a clean qualifying maximising the lap, which hopefully sets us up for a better Sunday.

Huge congrats to the team and Chaz on the result, was awesome to see the bounce back.
