Walkinshaw Andretti United has today revealed a special livery across both Car No. 2 and 25 for the Sydney SuperNight, celebrating Mobil 1’s 50th anniversary globally.
The iconic logo, turned gold for the occasion, not only celebrates Mobil 1’s 50 years of being the world’s leading synthetic oil, but also looks forward, accompanied by the slogan ‘ready for what’s next.’
Also seen on both Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood’s car is the return of Pegasus, the instantly recognised Mobil 1 horse with wings, which is seen above the Mobil 1 logo on the bonnet. It’s the first time the Pegasus been seen on a Walkinshaw car since 1999.
The livery was also made possible thanks to co-naming rights partners Optus and Truck Assist as well as the entire WAU partner group, who have thrown their support behind the celebration.
It was a full team effort to get the cars to this point, with just three days in the workshop between Townsville and Sydney, which required a huge effort from the all departments, including the mechanics, the PPG powered paint shop, and Signzone.
Both cars will be first seen on track this Friday evening, July 19, for Practice 1 of the Sydney SuperNight.
Bruce Stewart - Walkinshaw Andretti United CEO
“It’s a privilege to run the special Mobil 1 50 years livery this weekend, the gold looks fantastic, and under lights it’s going to look even better. It’s also awesome to have Pegasus on the bonnet of both cars as well, we haven’t seen it since 1999 on our cars, I think it’s going to be extremely nostalgic for a lot of fans.
“The Mobil 1 logo is iconic with this team, and iconic worldwide, so it’s fantastic to be able to join in the celebrations this weekend, fittingly, where the team and Mobil 1 first raced together at Sydney Motorsport Park in 1994.
“Our 31-year history with Mobil 1 has been an outstanding success, both on and off track, and is the definition of the word partnership, so we can’t thank everyone involved enough, and we are equally excited about what’s to come.”
Brad Phillips - General Manager, Business to Business, Ampol
