Not a bad start to the season with two trophies in two races for Chaz Mostert but the luck wasn’t on Ryan Wood’s side this weekend as he got caught in opening lap chaos again.

After strong qualifying pace on Saturday, the crew were eager to get the day underway with quali first up. It was a successful session for Chaz who put together a solid lap securing third position and booking a spot in the Top 10 Shootout.

On the other side of the garage, Ryan missed out on the shootout by the skin of his teeth, 0.01 seconds, so would start the race in P11, a great effort for his debut weekend!

As the sun blasted down on the track, Chaz made his way out for a lap to himself around The Mountain, the pressure was on! Chaz left nothing out there, he maximized everything he had in the car and secured a front row start for Race 2.

The lights went green for Race 2 and Chaz rocketed off the line to lead into the first corner, with clear air ahead he settled into the race.

On the other side of the garage, luck wasn’t with Ryan as he got caught in opening lap drama being pushed into the wall sustaining steering damage, before more contact a few laps later forced and end to his day once again. Neither were his fault, it was just one of those days…

It was all down to the final pitstop of the race to determine the top step of the podium, there was an issue with the right front during the stop but the crew managed to get it sorted before the fuel time.

Unfortunately, the Mobil 1 Optus Racing No. 25 got pipped during the final stop by Will Brown. Chaz chased him down for the remaining 13 laps but didn’t have enough in the car to catch so he settled for second place.

All in all, a promising start to the season for the team, the crew worked tirelessly across the break to turn these cars around and the support we have had from all of our partners has been amazing, see you at the Grand Prix!

Unfortunately, not the way we wanted to our end weekend with two DNF’s in both races due to incidents out of our control, but it was pretty cool to get my debut weekend under my belt.

A lot of positives to take out of this weekend though, we had awesome qualifying pace which we will continue to build on for the next round.

We will bounce back for the AGP, everyone in the team did a mega job this weekend and it was awesome to have such strong support from everyone this weekend. I’m pumped for what we can do this weekend.

I’m a little bit guttered, really wanted that win today, we were in the hunt. If at the start of the weekend, you offered me two trophies I wouldn’t have believed you!

The car was a rocketship, it was a pretty cooI weekend, I loved hustling it across the top, we have had a massive turnaround with these cars from last year!

Thank you to all the fans and supporters, it was awesome to see so many of you in merch this weekend, I can’t wait to get back on track, bring on the AGP.
