Chaz Mostert and Lee Holdsworth are the 2021 Bathurst 1000 champions.

They conquered The Mountain and their names will be etched onto the Peter Brock Trophy forever, after the Mobil 1 Appliances Online No. 25 crossed the line first after 161 laps of Mount Panorama.

The good news didn’t stop there though, with Bryce Fullwood and Warren Luff finishing fifth, to top off an amazing, unforgettable day for Walkinshaw Andretti United.

From the moment the car rolled out of the truck on Thursday, Chaz and Lee were the combination to beat. Pole, lap record, and the win, it was the perfect weekend.

The Mountain did have one major test in store for them, when on lap 49, a left rear tyre started to delaminate due to debris, forcing them onto an alternate strategy for the majority of the race.

That wasn’t going to stop them though, both drivers were the quickest on track all day, and even though some late race safety cars bunched the field up and caused some stress, they were a class above the field.

On the Car No. 2 side of things, both Bryce and Luffy chipped away for the entire day, gradually improving on their starting position of 12th in every stint.

When Luffy handed over to Bryce around the lap 100 mark, they sat sixth, and Bryce drove incredibly well in the final three stints finish in the top five.

It was a day we’ve dreamed of and worked towards, all made possible by the sacrifice from our team, and the support of our partners, members and fans.

Chaz Mostert and Lee Holdsworth are Bathurst champions. That’s not going to get old anytime soon.

Chaz Mostert

“It’s just incredible, I can’t believe it. I seriously cannot thank this team enough, for all their effort this year, for all the work that went in during our month in Sydney that was aimed at this, to everything they have given up to help us win, I love this team and this is for them.

“I owe so much to Lee and his speed all weekend, man he did a good job, and it put us in the position to fight at the end.

“That car was as good of a car I’ve ever driven, it was so nice to drive, not even that tyre could stop us, it’s just so cool to have achieved this.

“Thank you to all our partners for their support as well, we wouldn’t be here without them.”

Lee Holdsworth

“Bathurst winners, it hasn’t sunk in yet, it’s just incredible.

“Chaz did a terrific job all weekend, the car was just unbelievable from the first session, the team deserve so much credit for all they have done this year to make that happen.

“I just can’t believe it, it really is a dream come true, and something I’ll never forget. I was so nervous that entire final stint but seeing how calm Chaz was behind the wheel shows how special this is.

“Thank you to everyone, the team, our partners, the fans, it just so damn cool.”

Bryce Fullwood

“So awesome to get a top five finish at Bathurst, it is such a cool feeling. Thank you so much to Luffy who did such a good job all weekend, he is such a pro.

“We chipped away at it all day, and the car was really nice to drive at the end there.

“A huge congratulations to Chaz, Lee and everyone in this team for the win as well, absolutely awesome to be a part of, and I’ve seen how much work has gone into it.

“It was definitely a nice way to close the year out and my time here, thank you to everyone for their support over these two seasons, it’s something I’ll never forget.”

Warren Luff

“Awesome to get a top five finish with Bryce at The Mountain, he did a great job all race, and we just kept working away at it all afternoon.

“Everyone here did a great job all weekend to keep improving Car 2, and that showed with Bryce at the end there.

“A huge congratulations to everyone here at Walkinshaw Andretti United, and Chaz and Lee for their win, so much work and effort has gone into it from everyone here, so it’s so cool to see that rewarded.”
